But typical of all of Ryans other instructionals, it is detailed in concept behind technique, almost to a fault, ie he talks a lot. But then Id much rather someone talk a lot than mumble something brief and vague. I reviewed Lepris set here: 2 Share Report Save level 1 6 years ago Thanks all. Ryan Hall Guard Passing Dvd Code BLACK StillI ended up getting Ryans on amazon for less than 50 2 Share Report Save level 1 6 years ago I dont have either but I just wanted to pop in and let you know that code BLACK still works at groundfighter.com for 50 off all Ryan Hall DVDs - just FYI in case you didnt know. Ryan Hall Guard Passing Dvd Series And HighlyShare Report Save level 2 6 years ago Thanks So many great dvd choices in halls library 1 Share Report Save level 1 Newborn Casco 6 years ago Im currently working my way through Ryans Passing series and highly recommend it for someone who approaches jiu jitsu from a cerebral aspect and specifically wants to know why stuff works (or doesnt work). If youre the kindof person that wants a couple of minutes on each technique and not a lot of theory or explanation, then Ryan Hall is not for you. Share Report Save level 1 6 years ago I hear the Lepri Dvd is selling very well. LOTS of talking. 1 Share Report Save level 2 6 years ago I think its perfect for beginners. LOTS of talking. Respectfully disagree with this description. As others have said, if you just want a ton of moves, Ryan Hall isnt your man. If youre interested in learning the theory, this is the way to go. Share Report Save Continue this thread level 1 CTA 6 years ago I got Ryan Halls guard passing when it was released a year ago and Ive still barely scratched the surface. I keep going back to dvd 1 on the fundamental positions and transitions. Its made a huge difference in the way Ive approached passing (granted, its not like I had a lot of experience to begin with). Instead of being a single technique (with a few options) its an actual system. All the positions are connected, you can flow from one to the other, transition to the back. There is a little bit of overlap but its also what make his series so nice as every thing flows together. I havent see Lucas Lepris dvd but I dont see how you could be disappointed by Halls series. Coincidentally, I got sick and was off the mats for a week, so I watched it quite a bit. Upon returning to the mats last night, I was surprised at the impact it had on my rolling. Several upper belts even commented on my pressure and position.
